With ballots being distributed and less than a month until the Nov. 5, 2024 General Election, Nevada County, CA is sitting at a voter registration rate of 93.36 percent, according to reports by the California Secretary of State and Nevada County Registrar of Voters.

Prior to each statewide election, the California Secretary of State files a 60-day Report of Registration detailing registration statistics for each county.

In the report filed Sept. 6, 2024, Nevada County, CA already had a 91.93 percent registration rate with 74,577 registered voters.

39.40 percent of registered voters in Nevada County, CA were registered Democrats, while 32.67 percent were registered Republicans.

15.36 percent indicated “No Party Preference,” 5.30 percent registered American Independent, 4.12 percent “Other,” 1.70 percent Libertarian, 0.94 percent Green, 0.46 percent Peace and Freedom, and 0.04 percent “Unknown.”

Registered voters 66 years and older made up the highest percentage of voters while the youngest group eligible to vote, 17.5 year olds who will turn 18 by the election date through 25 year olds, made up the lowest percentage.

As of today, Oct. 10, the Nevada County Elections Registrar of Voters is reporting 75,734 ballots issued throughout the county, indicating a 1.43 percent increase in voter registration since the 60-day report.

143 ballots have already been returned and counted.

The state of California allows voter registration up until 15 days prior to the election.

Oct. 21, 2024 is the final day to register to vote.

Registration can be completed online or via a paper Voter Registration Application, which must be postmarked no later than Oct. 21, 2024 or hand-delivered to the local election office.
